The short film
“Yanga 1609”, a short fiction film, tells the story of the first free people from slavery in America and reveals the more human side of a legendary character: a man who found in love, family and dignity, the strength to face an empire.
As he prepares his people for battle, Yanga faces a more personal struggle: protecting the families who trust him, the woman who shares his dream, and the child who embodies a future free from chains. Torn between the duty of a leader and the heart of a man, he must make choices that will determine the fate of them all.
